"Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States, where it is also known as African-American History Month. It has received official recognition from governments in the United States and Canada, and more recently has been observed in Ireland, and the United Kingdom. It began as a way of remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It is celebrated in February in the United States and Canada, while in Ireland, and the United Kingdom it is observed in October."

To celebrate black history month this year our staff have been hard at work to put together some events and activities for the students to take part in.

EAGA Gospel Choir

This year we had another visit from the EAGA gospel choir, known for being semi finalists on Britains Got Talent 2018 as well as picking up many others awards such as BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year 2023. Staff and students were given an incredible performance from the choir as well as being encouraged to join in themselves.

Urban Roots

Staff also arranged for some authenic caribbean food to be delivered by Urban Roots for the students to try.

Please see more pictures below from the events.
